Project Overview
Brief description of the scheme:Â The scheme involved the addition of an Early Years Unit constructed within the grounds of the existing school.
The entire build period for the scheme was 20 weeks and involved the construction of a new single storey facility which included classrooms and an outdoor soft play area.
Additional information:Â Use of a recycled timber dry stack walling system accelerated the superstructure build with the structural walls constructed in just two weeks. The walls were then clad with a stone render. Key features of the building were sunpipes throughout the building to provide natural lighting, a sprinkler system, underfloor heating and a surface water attenuation system. Surplus excavated materials were used to make up levels and flatten off existing football field.
During construction work the site was accessed via a separate road to minimise disruption to the rest of the school.
The project was completed on time and within budget and was handed over in time for the start of the new academic year.
